I work as a sociologist and social demographer and study racial and ethnic inequality in the United States. My research examines the incidence and consequences of racial and ethnic intermarriage. Using intermarriage to describe divisions in U.S. society, I have studied the relationship between education and intermarriage, the effects of age and remarriage on intermarriage, as well as trends and geographic variation in intermarriage. Recent and current work includes studies of the impact of intermarriage on divorce, fertility, and household structure. My interests also include immigration, marriage, mathematical demography, and statistics.
