What is Alpha Kappa Delta?
Alpha Kappa Delta is the National Honor Society in Sociology, founded in 1920 for the purpose of forming a society in which students might become acquainted with each other's research projects and where they might meet informally with the whole staff of their department for suggestions and criticisms.
The society has now evolved to incorporate broader goals such as promoting an interest in the study of sociology, research of social problems, and such other social and intellectual activities as will lead to improvement in the human condition. It is now an international society of scholars dedicated to the ideal of Anthropon Katamanthanein Diakonesein or "to investigate humanity for the purpose of service."

How Do I Join?
Students become members by joining the chapter at the school where they are enrolled. Alpha Kappa Delta chapters are operated by student officers and faculty advisors. Together they select and induct the members and carry out the goals of the society. All chapters register their inductees at the national office, where the membership records are preserved for reference purposes. There are presently 390 chapters in 49 states, the District of Columbia, Canada, China, the Philippines, and Taiwan.
To become a member of the Delta of Utah Chapter of Alpha Kappa Delta ask for an application at the SSAC office (Room 333) or inquire at the sociology office.
