RESEARCH INTERESTS
I conduct theoretically derived research on the human dimensions of global environmental change. I employ formal comparative methods to examine how various types of world economic integration contribute to environmental change and concomitant human well being outcomes. In this work I also consider the structural and institutional characteristics of societies as well as how ecological conditions partially shape society/nature relationships. The majority of my research is cross-national in scope, quantitative by design, and involves the analysis of panel data. Besides my ongoing research on the social foundations of environmental change, I am involved in collaborative research on the structural determinanats of domestic income inequality and multilevel analyses of the impacts of global integration on individual attitudes about the environment.
