This is a regular semi-annual update from the University of Utah Sociology Department that highlights our faculty members' recent publications and grants. The intent of this newsletter is to increase the visibility of our research and facilitate future collaborative efforts. Our department has undergone a dramatic transformation over the past 10 years, with most of our current faculty being hired during this period. This restructuring has been very successful, as evidenced by a recent ranking of our department as 32nd in the US, in terms of influential publications (ASA Footnotes Dec 2006).
- Noteworthy in Sociology Winter 2008
Andrew Jorgenson, currently at NC State, will be joining our faculty next fall. Andrew is one of the top junior environmental sociologists in the U.S., and his work is highly regarded internationally as well. He is also Co-Editor (with Ed Kick) of the Journal of World Systems Research. Andrew is a great addition to our comparative international sociology area and to the University's Environmental Studies program.
